I made this site because I noticed that as the Gosh! set of Mario plushes got more popular, people have begun to confuse the 2006 set for other Gosh! Mario plush sets. The only website with information on these plushes was an outdated one I made around 2 years ago. So I decided to try and make the definitive resource for information on these mysterious plush sets.
Released: 2006 & 2007
I first learnt about this set back in 2016 when I was browsing through eBay and I found a strange Mario plush that I had never seen before. I noticed it had a tag that looked very similar to the tag usually seen on Kellytoy Mario plushes, so I decided to buy it. While I was waiting for the plush to arrive I did some research and I learnt that the plush is part of a set of plushes that look very similar to the infamous Mario Party 5 plush set. A year later I noticed that the set was gaining popularity, and as of 2019 this might be the most well known Gosh! plush set out of all the sets seen on this site.
Overall, this plush looks very similar to the Mario Party 5 plush, but pretty much every Mario plush in this set looks different. There might be some plushes that look exactly the same as the MP5 plush, or some (like the one pictured) that look better than the MP5 plush. I think it looks better because the moustache doesn't cover his mouth unlike the MP5 plush.
This is the most unique plush in the set because it dosen't really look like the Mario Party 5 Luigi. Instead, it looks like they took Mario, changed his moustache slightly and changed the red to green. This plush is hard to find, but if you're patient, you might find one.
This plush is basically the same as it's MP5 equivalent. The only differences are that Wario's overall buttons are smaller and that his hat looks slightly better. If you want to start collecting this set I'd suggest starting with Wario, since you'll most likely see at least one Wario while searching on eBay.
Much like Wario, this is the same as it's MP5 equivalent.
Much like Wario and Yoshi, this is the same as it's MP5 equivalent.
Much like Wario, Yoshi and Toad, this is the same as it's MP5 equivalent.
I own everyone in this set except for Donkey Kong, who I will get soon. I don't think they made a Peach or Bowser plush, and because of the differences between some of the plushes, I do not suggest collecting this instead of the MP5 set. Instead, treat this set as if it's a unique set. If you already own the MP5 set, chances are you don't want to own any of the plushes in this set except for Green Mario. Also, don't buy a plush from this set and try to claim it's from the MP5 set.
Rarest in this set: Toad. I haven't seen a listing of him since 2016.
Most Common Plush in this set: Wario.
Aside from the differences I mentioned above, try to look closely at the tags on the Plush. If the paper tag looks like a Kellytoy tag, it's a Gosh! plush. The tush tag of a Gosh! plush will usually have the Gosh! logo on the back and a Nintendo logo on the front with a copyright of the year the plush was most likely released.
Released: 2007
To confuse people even further, Impact International decided to bring the MP5 set to the UK a second time, this time in Beanie form. I have no idea why two unrelated companies decided to release plushes based off the same set. Like the Gosh! set, some of the plushes in this set look slightly different compared to their MP5 equivalents
There are a few differences between this plush and the original MP5 version. The shoes look more detailed here and Mario's proportions look lankier, making him look more like how he looked in the Gamecube era.
Like their Gosh! versions, these plushes look mostly the same as their MP5 versions. So there's not much I can say about these.
I only own Mario, and as of right now I don't plan to collect the whole set. Unlike the Gosh! set, all of the characters from the MP5 set were apparently released. A Luigi, Peach, Wario and Bowser plush exist according to the set sheet that came with Mario, but no there are no photos online of any of them. I only plan to buy Luigi, Peach and Bowser once I find a listing of them (unless Wario's plush has some differences). This company seems to be the same one that made a set of Classic Sonic plushes that had a Dr. Robotnik plush that never got released, so there is a possibility that the only plushes in this set are Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Toad.
Rarest in this set: Luigi, Peach, Wario and Bowser.
Most Common Plush in this set: Donkey Kong.
Released: 2007
Much like Sanei, Gosh! took their 2006 plushes and tried to make them look more like how the characters are actually supposed to look like.
Unlike the previous two plush sets, this plush is completely unique. The only simularity to the MP5 is that you can remove his overalls. Mario's shoes are more detailed, much like the Impact plush, and his hat is now stuffed.
Instead of just making a green Mario, Gosh! made this plush look more like how Luigi is supposed to look like. This is the last Gosh! Luigi plush that has the same colour overalls as Mario, in future plush sets, Luigi has darker overalls than Mario.
This Wario plush looks much better than both the MP5 plush and the 2006 plush. Wario now has the correct proportions (his head is not supposed to be as big as his body), short sleeves and elf shoes.
This Yoshi looks similar to the 2006 version, but the eyes look slightly different and his shoes are more orange.
Like The other plushes, Toad is completely unique.
For some strange reason they gave Donkey Kong these weird eyes, which makes this plush look worse than the 2006 version.
I own Mario and Wario. It seems that there weren't any other characters other than these in this set.
Rarest in this set: I'm not sure which character is the rarest.
Most Common Plush in this set: Toad.
Released: 2007 & 2008
These plushes look mostly similar to the 1st 2007 set, with the only main difference being the materials and Luigi's overalls.
Wario looks slightly better than he does in the 1st 2007 set.
I don't own any of the plushes in this set. I assume that there is a Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Toad plush in this set, but I haven't seen any pictures of them.
Rarest in this set: Yoshi, Donkey Kong and Toad.
Most Common Plush in this set: Wario.
Released: From 2009 - 2012
In the year 2009, the company that I assume owns Gosh!, PMS, started re-releasing the 2nd 2007 set with new tags, as well as expanding it to include more characters. I won't include Mario, Luigi and Wario here, because they basically look the same as they did in the 2nd 2007 set, with the only difference being that they have different tags.
These characters look the same as they did in the 1st 2007 set. The only main difference is that they have different materials.
These characters are simply just Mario and Toad but recoloured to look like Fire Mario, Blue and Yellow Toad. I assume these were made to promote New Super Mario Bros Wii.
This is the first completely new character, Diddy Kong. Although you can't see it in this image, he does have the Nintendo logo on his hat.
A pretty decent Koopa Troopa plush. One of the few plushes in this set that seems to be hard to find.
This Peach plush would've been decent if her head wasn't bigger than her body. It's strange that they never made a Peach until now, considering that she was in the MP5 set, which the 2006 set was based off.
I own Mario and Luigi in various sizes, Wario, a small Yoshi and a keyring of Toad.
Rarest in this set: Koopa Troopa.
Most Common Plush in this set: A lot of plushes in this set seem to be very easy to find, but from what I've seen, the most common plush could be either Mario, Luigi or Wario.
Released: From 2010 - 2012
In 2010 PMS released another set that uses similar materials to the 1st 2007 set.
Mario looks similar to how he looked in the 1st 2007 set, the main differences are the colour of his shoes, his emblem and his moustache.
Probably the best looking Gosh/PMS Luigi. The main differences between this Luigi and the 2007 version is that his overalls are darker and his emblem is smaller.
Like Mario, Wario looks similar to his 2007 version, with the main difference being the size of his emblem.
Toad seems to be unique here, and I'd say that this is the best Toad plush out of all the Gosh/PMS Toad plushes.
I only own Toad. I think a Donkey Kong and Yoshi plush exist, but I'm not gonna say that they're the rarest because there isn't really any evidence that they actually exist. This was the last PMS set ever made, so they haven't been re-released in another set, and none of these plushes have a set sheet either.
Rarest in this set: Luigi.
Most Common Plush in this set: Mario.
